 | | SPHERON-VR’s Scanlight Provides 360° High Quality Images Even in Darkest NightFebruary 3rd 2009 - Advanced digital imaging specialists SpheronVR AG has announced the new Scanlight, which is due to be showcased at the ‘Focus On Imaging 2009’ exhibition in Birmingham, UK. The Scanlight enables high quality full spherical images to be captured with full illumination in even pitch black conditions.
“SpheronVR has always led the way in capturing the highest quality panoramic images possible,” said Peter Taylor, SpheronVR’s Business Manager, “and now with the new Scanlight, capturing market leading images using the SpheroCam can be achieved even in poorly lit and challenging environments.”
The Scanlight comprises of two LED lamps that are attached, with an easy to use snap and lock mechanism, to either side of the camera lens. Each LED lamp comprises of 20 lights, which move in unison with the lens to provide full illumination for the duration of the image capture.
Poor lighting damages the quality of images, whilst providing adequate illumination usually requires the use of large obtrusive lights and heavy generators, which clutter up a panoramic image and create unwanted shadows. The Scanlight, however, can be powered by a rechargeable battery that’s clamped to the SpheroCam’s tripod, and will enable 360° images to be taken without interruption.
The ability to capture fully illuminated panoramic images even in pitch black conditions means the SpheroCam will prove even more valuable for a variety of documentation tasks, such as fire and special forces investigations, architectural capturing, building surveying, archaeology analysis, computer graphics reconstruction modelling and on a wide range of training material exercises.
Spheron’s SpheroCam HDR camera has re-defined full spherical photography and the term (HDR) High Dynamic Range imaging. It’s able to capture 360° panoramic 50 mega pixel images within a single scan operation, and is the first camera able to measure real world luminosity values, from the darkest shadows to the brightest sunlight.
You can request a demonstration of the Scanlight and SpheroCam HDR by visiting SpheronVR at stand # C36 at ‘Focus On Imaging 2009’ in Birmingham, and more information can also be found on its website: www.spheron.com, or email info(at)spheron.com
